The mission of Jesus and Mary Academy is to develop the minds, bodies, and souls of our students in accordance with the perennial educational and moral principles of the Roman Catholic Church.

How We Educate
Jesus and Mary Academy provides a structured, traditional social and academic environment in which students pursue truth and develop virtue.
The Academy's rigorous and balanced curriculum is designed to ensure each student's intellectual growth is harmonized with spiritual, religious, emotional, and social development and prepares each student for a life of faith, service and success in school and beyond.
Within our walls, students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, become compassionate leaders in their communities, and grow in their faith by taking an active part in the life and liturgy of a thriving community, fully committed to developing Christian values.
Our Goal
By providing an atmosphere of serious scholarship and Catholic vitality, Jesus and Mary Academy strives ultimately to form good Catholic citizens, men and women willing and able to work for the restoration of all things in Christ.
Our History
Jesus and Mary Academy was founded in 1925 as an all-girls’ school by a small group of nuns who fled Mexico to escape persecution by the Mexican government.
On the expansive property is a church (built in 1928), a priests’ residence (a large Queen Anne-style home built in 1902 and purchased by the nuns in 1925), and a Mission-style home, formerly used for teaching (1518 Mundy Dr).
In 1948 dormitories and additional classrooms were added (1416 Mundy Dr) and in 1956 an auditorium / hall was built across the street (1411 Mundy Dr).
The Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), a congregation of Catholic priests and religious (sisters, brothers, oblates) dedicated to the preservation and promulgation of the traditional teachings and liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church, purchased the Church and Academy in 1983.
The students attending Jesus and Mary are co-ed and come from diverse family backgrounds, perfectly reflecting the diverse and exciting city of El Paso, Texas and the history of the school.
As part of the Paso del Norte Borderplex, El Paso shares a border with both Las Cruces, NM and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In fact El Paso has the largest shared border with Mexico in the United States. This binational region of 2.7 million people is the largest bilingual / binational population in the Western Hemisphere.
El Paso is also home to Ft. Bliss, the second largest military installation in the United States and is home to the 1st Armored Division, better known as “Old Ironsides.”
Jesus and Mary Academy strives to provide El Paso families and families in the surrounding borderplex, including those with limited means / economically disadvantaged, an affordable, value-based education.
